Description :
The PL-P reveals many defects in PET preforms. Preforms are exposed to polarised light, which highlights internal stress. These optical defects result from how the polymer behaves during injection. Colour fringes seen under polarised light at 45° and 90° — known as isochromatic fringes — indicate the level of stress and its causes, and the light also shows the direction of the stress. A defect-analysis catalogue is supplied. With its adjustable angle, the PL can be used sitting or standing and holds preforms steadily for comparison; its large size also allows inspection of large preforms, for water-cooler bottles for example.
